Mexicano and the sister store Ambar
y Opalo are both shops with a wide selection
of semi-precious stones, such as jade, opal, lapis lazuli
and, the main attraction, Mexico's most popular indiginous
resin, amber.
Amber is without doubt one of the most beautiful
souvenirs you can bring back from Mexico. The
famous mines near Simojovel, Chiapas are the source
for some very beautiful golden red drops
of sunshine frozen in time. It's the only source of
amber on the American continent. You'll probably notice
plenty of people walking around town with amber around
their necks.
Most of what you see in these stores is one-of-a-kind,
designed in-house and made in their workshop.

make your own design!

on 5th Avenue between 4th and 6th Streets, and the sister
store Ambar y Opalo is also on 5th
Avenue, between 10th and 12th Streets.
