pdc directory

La Hierbabuena is a small shop on 5th Avenue with some of the nicest Mexican handicrafts in town. The American owner Melinda has lived in Playa for more than 20 years and really knows her stuff!

Hierbabuena, Spanish for the herb mint, is mainly focused on textiles. You'll find bags, pillow cases, purses, scarves and much more. La Hierbabuena also carries locally designed clothes that are lightweight and pretty, perfect for the local climate. They also have alot of beautiful kid's clothes, like embroidered dresses and cool little pants.

The Mayan handicrafts are predominantly from the state of Chiapas, an area steeped in tradition from which many traditional textile products originate. Melinda works directly with the Indian women in the villages around San Cristobal, and everything in the shop is hand made and of high quality. You'll appreciate the quality and selection that over 20 years of experience brings to La Hierbabuena.

Beautiful Mayan handicraft of high quality and great cotton clothes.
