Mayan Zip-Line Expedition
Book here and each person gets a free T-shirt!!
(15 dollar value)
Alltournative strikes another blow against boredom with their newest tour, the Mayan Zip-Line Expedition.
This half-day tour, with its visit to protected natural sanctuary Chikin Ha, is a great introduction to the wonders of the Yucatan and the ancient Maya.
You'll bike through the farmlands of local farmer Don Silvano, where you'll learn about local subsistence farming. Then, you'll visit three different cenotes, which are caves or sinkholes filled with pristine fresh water. At each cenote, your guide will point out various aspects of cenote systems, including flora and fauna, systemic function, and stalactite/stalagmite formation.
Cenote Xta Bay is shaped like a natural rock pool surrounded by lush vegetation and filled with emerald water. Here, you can swim, snorkel, or simply float in an inner tube.
Cenote Chikin Ha is shaped like a cavern tunnel, opening to a large space filled with incredible geological rock formations and crystal aquamarine water. You'll snorkel from one side of the tunnel to the other.
Cenote Aluxes is shaped like a huge egg that has collapsed downward, leaving behind an island surrounded by clear blue water. Here you'll witness an ancient Mayan purification ritual, something most tourists will never get to experience.
You'll also learn what it feels like to be a bird as you zip-line three times, flying over cenotes and the jungle canopy below.
After this exhilarating ride, you'll be ready for the delicious food and drinks that will be waiting for you at the Rest Area.
This is a very popular excursion and spaces are limited, so booking in advance is highly recommended.
