We seem to be a large block of folks!
Perhaps because it's just barely spring here. (I have several crocuses, some scilla , a hyacinth and ONE tulip blooming!  )
Or perhaps we just have the good taste to recognize Playa for the superb, friendly resort+"real" place that it is!

xoxo from Ottawa

Us Canadians are just so friendly helpful, is all!

I'm over on the west coast, with unusually high temps this year, so our crocuses are way gone, and our tulips and hyacinths are almost done too!

I love spring.

Canadian Connection

Anyone know a good "Canadian" hangout in PDC?

We've never run into a place that caters specifically to Canucks in Playa, and why look for one? If you want to hang out with home folks, stay home. You'll have a great time mixing with whoever you run into, Mike. The more diverse the group, the better. Having said that, mind you, you're going to run into all kinds of Peeps from North of the 49th, especially if you're down there during that time of year when the weather back home makes it a good idea to head for warmer climes.

Contrast.

I suspect that Canadians love PDC for the contrast with the climate so far up north. Big cold vs. tropical. Eh?

I'm first born American from a bunch of Canucks. Does that count, sort of?

Canadians have socialized computing - they can get a computre and online access, but unless it is an emergency, they may have to wait

OK, I see I might get picked on here, It is not so much that we need to meet other Canucks, in more detail we want to talk to people who are moving from somewhere else to PDC area. Will be retiring in less than 10 years and want to know the ins and outs of making a move. Seems that the area is growing by leaps and bounds for our goals, it might be too built up ; anyone been to Belize? We will try our hardest to come to Peep Fest 2006; sound like a great time.

Sorry if I sounded like I was picking on you, Mike. That wasn't my intention. Just that we're so enthusiastic about the diversity of good folks you're going to run into, that we didn't want you restricting yourselves. As far as a permanent move goes, it's a subject that comes up quite a bit. If you turn over some rocks using the search feature above, you'll find it discussed on a lot of threads, with plenty of good information. You're right about the pace of growth in the Playa area. It's maniacal! We can't believe how much it's changed in just the few years we've been travelling there. Peep Fest will be a good time, I gay-ron-tee it! Enjoying yourself is mandatory! Can't help you with Belize, I'm afraid, but I know I've heard a variety of opinions expressed about it. Don't know what a search on that might yield.

I think that is it! We love our winter vacations! I suspect we travel more on average than many Americans, too.

it is snowing to beat the band here in southern Saskatchewan, where I am visiting my mom and stepfather for the weekend. Barb, you don't know what you are missing honey! We were here Xmas eve and it was above zero and we were at the local school basketball court (outdoor) playing b-ball, and now it is snowing! What the heck!!!

I think it is also because we are so darn friendly and this is a fun board to post on. Plus of course it also helps that we are talking about such a wonderful warm place. Even though our weather will be quite nice here(although not hot), I am still going to PDC in late June. What can I say... I am hooked!!

I'm so sick of waking up to snow I just can't wait for the 15th to wake up to sun and sand for two weeks. I keep checking this board to make sure I didn't just dream it up. Yes Toto(or was that Dorothy), there really is a Playa.

My Grandparents are Canadians-immigrated to Detroit, so I have some Canadian blood. (When my Grandma gets pissed, she starts going off in French!) By far the nicest people you will ever meet! Canadians love warm weather-look at Florida!
