I've been watching this thread and not joining in the chat ~ just getting inspired by everyone's successes. Over the past 4 years, my weight crept up gradually by almost 30 pounds! Too much of the good life, combined with unnecessary alcohol consumption, lack of regular exercise, and an apparent metabolism slow down that comes with aging.
Mike and I are reasonably healthy eaters. We've opted for low fat meals for years and rarely eat at fast food restaurants. I don't consume sodas ~ diet or otherwise. All of our meals at home are cooked from scratch using fresh ingrediants.
Since we returned from our last cruise, I've cut alcohol to one drink per day, cut out almost all bread, white rice and potatos and added daily exercise to my routine. I speed walk 2 miles each morning before I get ready for work. I've tried jogging, but my 61 year old knees (that have been grossly overworked over the years) just can't take it. I also have weights and a stair stepper at work that I use when I have some free time. I've managed to shed 17 pounds since September 10th. I've got 7 more to go to meet my personal goal. I'm HOPING to reach my goal by January 1st ~ although with lots of parties and holiday festivities coming up, that may be unrealistic.

Good for you, Joanie! It's amazing how a little focus can make some big changes.
Anyway, the "PP" was referring to the protein powder that I mentioned in the beginning of that sentence. Just too lazy to type it all in again.
