Mikey, that's exactly what happened. In fact, Kidd and his crew had nearly a month to strip her of anything they thought valuable after they scuttled her in the Dominican shallows.
There was a great story on this in this morning's Indianapolis Star. The cool thing is that, if the IU team can get the site protected, there are plans to turn it into an underwater museum of sorts.
I love this stuff. I've been a pirate junkie for years.
