Serious question for youz guyz.....

Does anyone know how long after an "incident" occurs that a person can press charges against someone else? In this case we're talking B&E. Cops have been all over it (AND the detectives AND the fire department AND the EMT's), and the responsible party (the "B&E'er") is currently in the hospital (and no, I didn't put him there, although I'm still angry enough right now that I'm probably capable of doing so).

I'm too tired, stressed, and still in a bit of shock to even get into telling you all what went down today, but rest assured that I'm okay, David's okay, my kitties are okay, etc. I'll get through this and look back and laugh some day. I hope.

But I'd really appreciate any help on a pressing charges timeline if anyone happens to know, as I haven't done so. Yet.
