Passport Question???
I read somewhere on this website that you must have a minimum of 6 months left on your passport to use it for entry into Mexico. I have contacted my travel agent who in turn has contacted FunJet and no one has ever heard of that before. It is their concensus that we would have no problems at the airport with his current passport. I would like more confirmation as to the validity of this comment. My husbands passport will expire in April '05 and we are set to travel in December 04. Am I to understand that he will not be allowed to board the flight with his current passport? I understand what is required to renew the passport and also am aware that we can use bc and dl. I would still appreciate input. My husband has sent an email to the Mexican Consolate for clarification but we have not had a response. I will post when and if we get it.

Expedia makes this statement:
Note: No brief account of the complex Mexican Passport/Visa regulations is likely to be fully successful and visitors are advised to use the following information for general guidance only. Non-compliance with visa regulations will result in fines and transportation (at the carrier’s expense) to the visitor’s country of origin. Passports: Passport valid for at least 6 months after date of entry required by all except the following: 1. nationals of Canada and the USA holding a certified copy of a birth certificate/voter’s card and photo identification (eg driver’s licence or student ID). (There is no number 2). Some visitors have reported on this forum that the Mexican immigration officials are not that strict regarding the 6 month rule. I’ve had to deal with the hassle of not having the correct Visa in a foreign country (because the airline was wrong) and because of that I would not take a chance. |
