There are 4 different areas to this resort - the Colonial, Kanetnah, White Sands and Riviera. There are a whole bunch of pools in this complex. In addition to buildings that allow all ages, the Riviera has a "Royal" section that is adults only, and they have their own pool for those booked in that section only. I don't know for sure if they allow topless by the pool, but since it's an adults only area, I believe they do - and I believe that goes for the adults only pool area in the Colonial section as well. Regardless of pools, topless is allowed on the beach so it's there (for the good or bad, depends on how you look at it!).
The Mayan Suites are in adults only buildings on the Colonial or Kantenah sections. They are named as such for the Maya showers - they're outside and open to the sky. The rooms are nice, and having an adults only building is also nice considering this is a very family friendly resort, but only you know if you want to spend the extra money on this kind of room.
If your goal is to book a resort that is adults only, my suggestion would be to stay at one that allows no children at all. While the Palladium has a few adults only areas, it's just not the same as staying at a true adults only resort.
