Our friends who lived in Dubai, UAE for 6 years flew to Jordan and saw Petra once. They said it was really amazing.
But
hot. And they were used to the heat. Go in their 'winter'. (They said Turkey/Istanbul was cheaper and more interesting. Also go there during the comparitively cooler time of year!)
The said it was pretty modern and clean and safe- tourist friendly- but pricey; Turkey was cheaper.
