Sunscreen Dilemma

So, we've been searching around and can't seem to find biodegradable/bug repellent/high SPF suncsreen anywhere in our local stores - REI, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods.

I went to check out Smartshield's website, it will cost us $14.91, with $7 being shipping. Went to drugstore.com, and was thinking of etheir purchasing a Jason Natural brand or Kiss My Face, shipping is again $6, bringing the total to $15.

So, my question is...considering that sunscreen is going to cost us $15, will we get a better price in town or the airport? Or are we just better paying for this stuff online and having it shipped to us beforehand?

Thanks!

My cousin was just here, and she surprised me by showing me that Coppertone now makes a biodegradable high SPF sunscreen, but I don't remember if it had bug repellant as well. She bought it at Walgreen's, not a specialty store.

Most of the time you don't need both repellent and sunscreen at the same time. Unless you are there at sunset, you don't need repellent on the beach and when in the jungle, you normally don't need sunscreen.

We typically have less selection here and it is often more expensive, so bringing it is not a bad idea.

Average price in Mexico City in supermarkets and pharmacies for Coppertone/Banana boat, oil free is us$10-14.

Good luck

Gotta agree with James. We've never had to use both at the same time in all our visits to Playa. Actually, I've always packed repellent and we've never had to use it. The most important thing you'll need is sunscreen... and plenty of it.

I tried the Jason repellant/sunscreen my last trip, and it was terrible. It really stung our eyes, and smelled not too pleasant. It was especially miserable for the kids.
I would wait until you get to PDC, and buy Australian Gold. It's not that terrible a markup, and you can adjust your SPF needs as you decide what they are.

We used the Australian Gold last trip down and really enjoyed it.. We picked it up down there.. The mark up was not too bad where we got it.. We pay a premium at home for that brand anyway, so I don't think it was more expensive than it would have been at home.. Worked great.. Got nice and dark in a reasonable controlled fashion...
