Tequila Expo
OK, it starts today, November 4th and runs through Sunday the 7th.
They are finishing up with all the stands and tents and should be ready to roll this afternoon at the 4:30 opening time. The event fills 16th Street between 5th and 10th Avenues. The brochure lists different events, like mariachis, prehispanic dancers, Miss Tequila Expo, etc., but what everyone is probably most interested in is free tequila and schwag. I'm going to be there at the opening with ATV Eric, the Freud's Guus and our own Stacy to see how much trouble we can get into. Eric has to work at 6pm at the Freud's reception, so it might be interesting. I'll list all the tequila companies that are listed as participating on the brochure: Calera El Amo Don Nacho Licores de Henequen 4 copas Mexico Viejo Distinguido Tequipal Olmeca Oro Azul 1921 Cava Antigua Arette 7 Leguas Herradura Reserva del Seņor El Consquistador Cabo Wabo Tapatio Tres Mujeres Cuervo Sauza El Campanario Centinela Some of them I don't recognize but might be the corporate name.

Thank goodness that wasn't happening when we where there last week. I would have never gotten my husband to come home. We were able to bring some might fine Tequila home though. I've got a good picture of you downing a shot of Tequila James. The food pictures of the Tulum Tour were perfect. I'll be posting pictures next week.

OK, so I met Anna (with Elsa) and Eric at the Freud. I was a little late, as usual. By the time we got over to the tequila expo, they still were not letting anyone in because the ribbon hadn't been cut (an hour late) so we went back to the Freud's bar and had our own tequila taste test. I'll post our observations shortly.

What a wonderful first trip to the best part of Mexico! Just returned home Sunday night.....stopped by the Expo and tasted some tequilas. It was a really nice set up. Just a few samples.....I really liked the El Amo. But had to get to a late dinner before sampling anymore. I think it ended at 10pm. Bought Sauza Hornitos to bring back home. Got it at Chedraui's for 165 pesos! Good deal! We had a little accident with the tequila however.....while driving back to our hotel (it was getting dark) we hit a topa quite hard and I heard the bottles crash together in the trunk.
Fortunately we only lost one. We went back to Chedraui for a replacement (good thing the price was so cheap). Then trying to explain why the car reeked of tequila so strongly to the car rental people was quite funny. ![]() Last edited by NWCreoleLady : 11-11-2004 at 12:46 AM. |

A couple of years ago Tammy brought a bottle of tequila back for another nurse. Since Tammy was still off for a few days she decided to stop at the hospital to drop off the bottle. As she was walking into the cafeteria at lunch time (Full cafeteria) the bag broke.
The bottle broke on the tile floor. The cafeteria smelled like tequila for an hour. ![]() |

Hi, first time posting LOVE this site!
anyhow, I just got back from Playa my second visit. I went to the tequila expo and it was great! My girlfriends and I did manage to taste quite a bit and left the expo feeling pretty happy. My favotite Tequila was the distinguido anejo. |
