My recommendation, which I posted on an earlier Chichen Itza thread by the OP, would be to stay at the Hotel Delores Alba (deloresalba.com) located 2KM from the entrance to Chichen Itza. Very nice basic hotel with 2 pools that is inexpensive with a very attentive staff.
