We're staying in a studio with kitchen in Merida's Centro from Dec 17 to Dec 24 for about 615 pesos a night - and they have a free nightcap cart in one of the common areas and a nice garden and pool.

I do not call hotel rooms in Playa costing over $100 a night reasonable, even during the holiday season. I may end up spending that much or more for the 4 nights we are going to be there, in which case I will average all 16 nights of our trip and feel okay about the cost

Value shopper, cheap B**tard, both terms might apply to me.
Reasonable is relative you value shopper you.
