I lived there for years...and it just depends on what you want to spend. For restaurants:
Expensive, but terrific - Geronimo (on Canyon Road)
The Palace Restaurant (under new owners)
The Coyote Cafe (on Water Street - great margaritas)
Less expensive - the Coyote Cantina (rooftop, lunch place - love the duck quesadillas)
- Tia Sophias - great breakfast or lunch (W.San Francisco
Bars - must go to Vanessie's (piano bar) or El Farol (on Canyon Road) for live music (where I met my husband, er... ex-husband) Still a great place.
