I'm very sad right now - leaving for Club Maeva tomorrow morning and I've got to euthanize my ole kittie this morning.

It's not a nice feeling.

Yes, Tappy!! I adopted both Tiggy and Eli from a local animal shelter. Wouldn't think to find my "children" anywhere else!!

Awwww, CarolLB!! I'm so sorry!! Putting my Gizmo to sleep was one the most heart-wrenching things I've ever done in my life. But it was the right thing to do, as I'm sure it is with you. Being in the position of ending a dear pet's suffering is a responsibility that we take on when we bring them into our lives. I feel your tears.

Yeah, our guys came from a shelter as well, but I'd appreciate it if you kept that to yourseves. We haven't told them yet that they're adopted.

They're adopted??? I could have sworn that Rocky had your chin and Baylee had your eyes. Also figured their overall beauty came from Jackie.

If you're trying to hint I need a shave, Karen, I'll have you know it's taken me years to get this beard the way I like it, and I'll not be scraping it off any time soon. I don't recall it being this gray when I first started it though.

Actually, now that you mention it...Baylee sort of looks like the mailman. Perhaps I should have a little chat with Jackie?

Can't argue with you there. Mrs. B is definitely better looking than I am.

I will be thinking of you and your pet. This is a very difficult time for you, try to focus on the wonderful memories shared with your pet.

My daughter and I worked all day at the "Paws for a Cause" day at the local park....this is where all the local shelters and rescue organizations bring out the dogs (and a few brave cats, in crates of course) in the hopes of finding them good homes....just is so heartbreaking to see so many sweet animals that need a good home. Any one who is looking for a dog or kitty friend please check out Petfinder dot com before you go buy one....

CaroleB so sorry to hear about your kitty

CarolLB my condolences. We've lost 2 pets this year. It is heartbreaking. This is the dog we adopted from the local animal shelter in February.

Tappy.... you've got the BIGGEST heart in ya, gal!!! What a great way to share an experience with your daughter and help those sweet animals find new homes. Were many of them adopted??

They had about 50 dogs and 30 cats. I think about 20-25 of the dogs got adopted. Most of the dogs at the event were BIG dogs (labs/goldies etc....). I did not even go around the cats, I know I would have I would have taken some home.
I worked the T-Shirt booth and my daughter was on the "water dish" patrol ....I know I cant get too close or I would have had 2-3 of the dogs in my car going home
We are looking for a dog to adopt, but we are waiting on the "fence guy" to get a fence up before we do.

They raised about 20K which is really good.
The 20K will go towards spay/neuter programs and health care for rescue dogs.

These were all shelter dogs (from kill shelters) that were cleaned up the night before. The rescues did not bring their dogs/cats in the hopes that we could get the shelter dogs adopted. The shelter dogs only have a few weeks and if they dont get adopted ....well we all know what happens...
