Actually, I need to make at least one more visit to Fry's today (Wednesday) to pickup a print server. I assume the store along I-45 is the only one in Houston. Leave me a phone number and I'll ring you when I'm heading that way. Yeah, it sure is easy to make a quick trip to Fry's that lasts over 2 hours!!

Later in the afternoon, I'll be running up to Dallas for at least one night and then flying out of IAH on Saturday afternoon. If I find a worthy SUV or convertible, I might even drive back. Currently, staying on the southern end of Conroe doing some work for a client.

Jimmy

I've been there a number of times (including a visit to pick up a mini iPod for James ). I've thought about an Apple and two of my brothers are pushing me towards Apple. The problem with stopping in at the Apple store is I tend to buy a bunce of accessories for my iPod and they can start to add up.

Good! I was there for the opening and the line wrapped all the way around the block and then some! Luckily I work for Apple, so someone got me in without waiting! There are so many ridiculous iPod accessories now! Last night I noticed an iBeam (laser beam that runs off of your iPod battery). What will these third party companies think of next?! Anyway, you should have someone at the store give you an overview. Nice that you have brothers to help you out too if you decide to get a Mac! Good luck!

I'll be leaving Dallas early Friday morning, so should be back around noon, if that works for you Tommy. One of my friends just happens to be up there for a training seminar, so I promised I'd drive up and take him to some Dallas nightspots for a few evenings. Unfortunately, all this rain today has limited the outing to just Thursday evening. Driving 3+ hours in the heavy rain today didn't sound too exciting to me.

We also use Linksys at home for two desktop computers and daughter has Dell laptop with lots of memory and speed, DVD/CD/burner, wireless ready and all the ports you could want and under $1500. Smooth sailing for us, and I am in no way, shape or form a computer wiz.

I did it, I pulled the trigger. Office Depot remolded a store not too far from my house. They had a special on a few items including a gateway laptop. After rebates I paid under $700 for a 15" screen, intel celeron M process at 1.5 Ghz, 512mg ram and 80gb hard drive. It has built in wireless that sometimes likes the connection with my d-link router and sometimes doesn't.

To bypass the wireless connection problems I stole the d-link usb adapter from my kids machine. My other option is to use my neighbors network since he hasn't encrypted his.

So far, so good. Thanks for the help everyone. Now I can sit my ass on the couch and surf the net.
