Trying to catch up with some of these more recent comments/questions, here:
Quote:
Dunno about the most popular toys right now (although in general things arrive here perhaps a few months after arriving up there) or about that social possibility. Father Bernard was telling us the other day when we set this up with him that he's rather busy himself between the holiday season, a school he also started and is running, and the ordination of a new bishop here in Q Roo, apparently the first such change in over 20 years. I have a call in to him but it's been a few days now and no word yet... Thanks to Manitou & family for starting off the drive with 3 or so toys the other day! Quote:

No worries, Bucky! Not trying to horn in on your action, there.
Actually my response was triggered by your XOX, Squish, and the comment on the avatar was an unrelated afterthought, although Bucky's interpretation makes more sense now that I think of it! Steve |

Steve, very cool idea. Will get some toys together here at the school and will drop them off at you place.
Regarding the customs decalration, I wouldn't declare them if I were you. Just say they are Christmas gifts for your nephews. Should not be any problem.... Buena suerte |

Just joshing you, Gerardo. And incidentally, sorry for not getting back to you about going out for some sushi. Everything got busy right away again. I'd like to do it, still, but am I mistaken or has Koma Sushi already closed down?!? Steve |

Hey Steve, I think I am taking a last minute trip to Playa Dec. 19. I have tons of stuffed animals that are in good condition that I need to get rid of. If you still are collecting as many as you can get, I will bring as many as I can fit in my big suitcase. I'll suffer through checking bags for this cause!

Just to let you know and to refresh this thread a bit, lots of people have been coming by with stuff for the kids, so don't be shy if you haven't, yet! And remember, this offer goes through New Year's, as we'll deliver one shipment to Father Bernard before Christmas but another for January 6th gift-giving customs!

Christmas Gifts
I'm a little late but I will be returning to Playa January 3rd and will bring some gifts along.
Possibly you can give me at that time directions to Father Quinn's church so that I can also provide a contribution. Charlie |

I would say at this point that most gifts are for younger children: cars, dolls, coloring books and crayons or colored pencils, things like that. So it might be a good idea to err on the side of toys for slightly older kids, if possible.
Father Bernard's church is at this address: Av 30 Mza 394 entre 74 y 76 Col. Luis D Colosio Murneta Playa del Carmen Phone number is 859 4091. Steve |
