Personally, I think these kind of surgeries encourage an attitude of obsession with perfection and that doesn't sit well with me. No judgements if it makes others feel better about themselves, but there's a reason so many young girls have warped body images. And I do it too, constantly bemoaning my "problem areas," as if that were some important subject to overcome like ignorance or poverty.

A truly great positive to come out of the popularity of plastic surgery is that the funds generated from vanity work often allow doctors to perform more pro bono work on those who need it for non-cosmetic reasons. If boob jobs and lipo have raised the profile of this field, that can only be good for those who suffer from disfiguration or third degree burns and desperately need these procedures.
