Bad time though to be building here though...it is just nuts right now. Not only have the prices more than doubled since we bought our house 5 years ago (more like almost tripled!
) but it takes forever to get a house built, they are having such a boom and there are major labour shortages in the housing business, acutally every business around here are having staffing problems.
Friends of ours are building a house in the north end of town (near us) and it has been almost a year now since they dug the basement and they still are about 2 months away from finishing.
We were actually thinking of buying a different house but there is nothing on the market and what does come up gets snatched up immediately...it's tough.
We had a condo on Main Street and we are kicking ourselves for not keeping it. Don had bought it 8 years ago for $42,000, sold it for $72,000 5 years ago- now one in the same building just sold last week for $180,000....crazy!
FWIW- I think Warman is a prettier town...they actually have a downtown area, it feels somehow more like a town? Whereas we have everything on the service road, I don't like that. Don's mom lives in Warman.
