You'll have a great time. We just got back from the Riu Palace Riviera Maya last night. On my daily beach walks, I would stop at the RPM's beach bar and have a cold one....or two...

There is a little post on the mirrors in bathroom stating water is not potable. We always used bottled water that is provided in the room. We would set out on large bottle on the bathroom counter each day (to brush with) so the water wouldn't be so cold on our teeth.

No bus inside the playacar compound that I know of. Cab is $5 each way into town, but lots of people walked it. Maybe a 20-25 minute walk to 5th ave.

Right across from the RPM is the Playacar shopping center with souviner shops, pharmacy etc. We thougt prices were better in town which would make sense because of more competition...

I would highly recommend going into town for some shopping and dinning at least once. There have been several threads recently on playacar resorts (Sandos, Rius etc.) Again have a great vacation!
