Take your bug spray, your patience, and a good attitude and everything will work out for the best. Just remember to be aware when going into the bathrooms and have a look around. If the door lock looks okay and there is TP, it's all good!

Dear GrosCap, thank you very much for your feedback and for taking the time to point out some flaws in what the last TA poster shared. I had the same opinions on some of the statements that were made. I was just feeling a little confused by the conflicting reports. In the whole scheme of things, it seems that the resort has an overall positive report from most of the travelers who stayed there, and I appreciate the reports and photos on this forum.
We also stayed at the Royal in PDC when it first opened in 2005, and that was an incredible experience even though some things were not yet opened or completed yet. The Grand Princess does remind me of the elegance of the Royal and was one of the reasons we chose this resort.
I have been vacillating between the Grand Princess and possibly changing to the Barcelo Tropical, however, we would only save around $100 for the package that only includes the standard room which is not anything close to the deluxe jr. suite at the Princess. To upgrade to a jr. suite at the Barcelo Tropical would be an additional $1220. I'm not sure why they charge so much for the upgrade, but then I would be paying quite a bit more to switch the package. I've been weighing the pros and cons of switching, and will most likely stick with the Princess.
