Hi Carrie.
I am a fellow seattleite as well and, although I have only been to the BVI
once, I am now a PDC addict.
I never even considered cancun.
Playa area has beautiful beaches and if you want my recommendation on
a place to stay that isn't quite A.I. but is close, I say try out the Shangri-La
Caribe. It is small , like 100 rooms (I hate the big crowds at the AI's)
but is such an amazing blend of Mexico and caribbean charm!
You get breakfast included that is wonderful,
and can have lunch there (but I would go to town) and happy hour is a blast.
Dinner is included too and is pretty good (about like most AI's), but again,
I would go to one of the many fabulous restaurants within walking distance.
It is so safe and comfortable feeling in Playa, we always walked everywhere.
As Bumper said, folks here are all pretty much rabid PDC fans, and
I am just doing my part to make you a convert.
