Trip Report Riu Palace
Hola,
Just wanted to let everyone know how our 2 weeks at the Riu Palace were. I can't say enough about this place, definitely the nicest place we've ever stayed at! The rooms were pretty, the food was FABULOUS, the staff were 100% attentive & friendly, the grounds were immaculate & the beach was great! My sweetheart's brother got married there & it was very nice, beautiful. We went to Xel-Ha & it was fantastic, only able to explore about one third of it even though we were there at opening (9:00) until 4:00. My favorite place is now Xel-Ha! It is definitely woth the $ to get in, we usually snorkle at free or low cost sites such as Akumal or Ya-Kul, but I will return to Xel-Ha. To top off the day there, we also got engaged, so will be returning to PDC in May for our honeymoon, once we solidify the date! Fins |

Congrats on your engagement!
![]() I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Riu Palace. My Fiance and I are planning on visisting for our Honeymoon in April. We also discovered the Xel-Ha website and -while it got some negative reviews on Tripadvisor.com - it looks like so much fun! I have a question: How did you book your stay at Riu Palace? We're having a hard time finding availability. |

Fins, are you going back to the Palace for your honeymoon? Great place. We just returned and did you know there were 35 weddings there in November? While we were there first 2 weeks of Dec there was one day had 3 and 3 days there were 2 plus others with only 1. The wedding coordinator and photographers looked very well organized.

jobob,
HOW was the Riu Palace this time around? Ruth really misses it, but only of course IF she could get her same view...!! tntsmith (Traci) is a Riu Palace alum too, as are several others from the forum I'm finding out... I frankly am looking forward to the air, hotel, refreshments, sites and beaches-beaches-beaches of playa on the non-AI thing...I suppose I'd have to eat a cracker or two while I'm there for strength...maybe a protein drink mixes well with tequila or rum or something...?? Welcome back!! |

The RIU Palace was great & we would have our honeymoon there, only they seem to be booked up for the period in April we want, the 17th - 30th. Does anyone have any suggestions on other really nice places?
We've been to Allegro & it was okay, but nothing to compare tp RIU. Fins |

If you're on a bus rather than a van plan on an hour. Will depend upon whether or not they have to stop at other resorts along the way. We had only one, Riu Yucutan, but it was still a good hour. We were on a bus this time, last year in a van which I believe moves along a little quicker and we were there in about 45 minutes.
