I will call my mother. She is 80.....or 79,

I was out there in October, when her husband died. She is doing real well - had been a caretaker for the last decade of his life and she had typical caretaker reacions - relief, guilt at relief, sense of a loss of a job (caretaking), and the whole range of complex emotions that can be involved.

Mom is the woman who made me aware of the South Beach Diet, also got a copy of the South Beach Diet Quick and Easy Recipe book. Here is what she wrote:

I have had a wonderful day today and partly because of you all. I slept until 9:30, around 10:30 I fixed simplified Egg Benedict and asparagus for brunch. Took a soaking bath in lemon oil and washed my hair. Had a 20 minutes 'chair massage'. Bought a few treats, on sale, at the health food store. That is where the chair massage is on Sat. afternoon. When I got home I put on the CD of Frank Sinatra's Love Songs and cooked page 173! I just finished eating and it was delicious. I made the whole recipe and have 3 servings in the freezer! I like doing that. I will enjoy the cook book you sent. Just needed a 'special someone' here! I had thoughts of that, too!

Pretty cool for a woman of her age. I think the someone special special phrase may refer to her offspring, but I think it is more likely that she is ready to date
