I love the Detailles shop! I always take all of my guests to her shop and come home with something of my own. All of the items in her store are made in Mexico - the Talavera from Pue, the blown glass from Jalisco and the pewter from the Cancun factory.
Please, please, please support her shop! I fear that she will close one day and I'll be left with all the crap - err - excuse me - tourist items on 5th Avenue. She told me that her daughter that still lives with her doesn't like to work in the shop and her son is too busy with the pewter to help her out any more. So now when she goes on vacation or buying trips she closes the shop. One time I was in Playa for a month and she was closed almost the whole time. Just on a lark I walked by her place on the night before I was leaving and she was there unpaking all her new things. We had a great chat and I got to buy some new things.
AND the best thing about her shop is that her prices are always the lowest in town or anywhere. I asked her about it one time and she said that she really wants people to enjoy the arts that Mexico has to offer and by not marking them up too much she can accomplish that.
