Have a look at my first post again. Java is irrelevent (this site only uses it for the webcam applet).
Javascript is a completely different thing and it is unrelated to Java. Make sure you have Javascript enabled. Let us know how it goes.

Andiline, I can also relate to the "I hate computers" reference. Spending eight hours or more on intense troubleshooting to end up being in the same place where you started always leads to frustration. It helps if you understand the puzzle and it's fun when it leads to, "Oh, I know what it is..." Experience can be an awful thing or an awful rewarding thing! Thanks, you all keep my spirits high.
I am fighting with computers all day long in the office (but more from the software-side than the set-up and configuration side) and usually in the end the computers do what I want so usually I win. This time it's a hard fight as my computer seems to be really naughty I will find out what's wrong it doesn't help him to be difficult... ![]() James, I have Java and Java Script enabled. I wondered yesterday whether there are any settings for visual basic scripts but didn't find anything. Was wondering about active X as well. I don't think it has anything to do with firewall or pop up blockers as I don't have problems with any other websites (at least I didn't see any so far). And as I said before: I can still type in the HTML-code so it's not really a problem. Teezet, don't worry, I have been working with IT-colleagues in the US for 5 years now and in the beginning it was really hard to understand each other. ![]() |

have similar prob with smilies, have 2 drag them into a message or its like this: <img> ( nothing appeared ) "I have Windows XP now and use Mozilla Firefox (but it's no longer working with Netscape either). Java is installed and enabled. Does anybody have any idea? Would be great as it's too much work to type the HTML-commands. On other boards the smilies still work..."have same setup @ work, will look over settings, maybe can help. good luck! with all the great pootin' minds here, you'll get it 2 work somehow! |

I'm actually amazed that they work at all... ever. I've been using computers since the home models first came out and I still find myself in quagmires that I would never expect the average home user to figure out.
Andiline - AFAIK, ActiveX is only used to get the color picker to work for IE, so that should not be related. You could also edit your options in the control panel and use a simpler interface (not WYSIWYG) and you may find that you are now enabled to do what you want. I've checked around for more related issues at the forum script developer's site but didn't find much.

Hi Shiantry, I downloaded Java virtual machine again and installed it but I don't think it has anything to do with that as there are websites using Java (I can see it when the Java icon opens up) and there is no problem then. I WILL find out and if that's the last thing on earth I do...
![]() By the way, rather than formatting I would do that... -> ![]() |

My guess (still) is that the problem is in the security settings for the internet zone.
![]() There is such a long list of things that you can en- or disable that I can easily imagine that, if there's a check at the wrong place, something essential will not work. ![]() |

Andiline, I'm able to duplicate your situation exactly, so hopefully I have the specific solution for your dilemma.
From Internet Explorer: Tools->Internet Options->Security->Custom Level->Enable Active Scripting **Note - There are three items under the heading called SCRIPTING. All of mine are set to ENABLE. The one mentioned above (Enable Active Scripting) when set to disable gives me the results you're experiencing. After making the change, you'll need to close Internet Explorer and reopen a new session to test it. Hope it cures your problem! Jimmy |

I'll check that immediately... - they are enabled, all three of them...
Maybe I should play around with these settings a little bit this evening. In this list there are more possibilities than those three and in my list some of them are disabled. I will check that out this evening.Thank you anyway. ![]() |
