Secrets Capri - Just returned
We returned last week from 7 glorious days at Secrets Capri. We where there Nov 27 - Dec 4th. We had a wonderful time. Do not let the reports on the beach and ocean discourage you. I thought it was beautiful. The resort is so wonderful, I cant imagine not going here just because of the bad reviews of the beach and ocean. I have a link below for a small sampling of my 240 pictures I took. We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
Go to my site below to see my pics. You will just love it. I would suggest eating at all Oeanea, Himitusu, Capri and Seaside Grill each one time, the Riviera is nice, its the buffet for breatfast and then each night they have a different specialty menue. But the others are better in my opinion. 1 night they have a beach party with a huge buffett including fresh grilled shrimp. Another night is the mexican fiesta night by the pool, which has a huge mexican buffet. I would also suggest these two nights. That would take care 6 out of 7 nights. The 7 night I would go back to your favorite rest. Make sure you eat some of the guacamole that they have at the pool bar. It is excellent. If you never had a Mojito drink, try it. They are very refreshing and not nearly as filling as the tropical drinks. Enjoy and have a great time. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/keenashelby/my_photos |

Glad you had a great time.
We leave for secrets on Sunday the 19th to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. We will only be there for five days and I was wondering what you would suggest we not miss. We are planning a day trip to the ruins on Wednesday but the rest of the trip we pretty much want to "veg" by the beach and pool. I will also need to do the obligatory t-shirt and souvenier shopping since we will be coming back home on 12/24- I'm sure everyone will be expecting something when we get back. Were you able to do much shopping? If so, did you find a place where we could do "one-stop" shopping to allow us more time on the beach? I LOVED the pictures-they looked like you had a GREAT time-I'm sure we will too. Thanks for your help!

For shopping just take a cab from the resort. Just tell the man at the front door you want a cab to Playa Del Carmen. He will have one there in a few minutes. Its $10 each way. They drop you off right at 5th Ave and you can get all your tshirts and stuff there. Then grab any cab you see back to the resort. You dont have to spend a lot of time in Playa, there is tshirt shop after tshirt shop along with all kinds of other shops. Since you are only going to be there 5 nights I would eat at the Capri, Himistu, Seaside Grill, and Oceana. They will have a beach party buffet(on the beach) and a mexican fiesta night buffet (around the pool) the food was really good hear too, but you can always eat at one of the resturants and just wonder around the partys, they have entertainment there. I wouldnt do anymore than what you already have planned, you really want to experience the resort, it is wonderful.

Secrets Capri was Wonderful!
We just got back and I couldn't agree more that Secrets Capri is a great place to stay. We also liked it because it wasn't too big. Some of the hotels in this area are absolutely huge but we were glad to be in a smaller hotel like this one. We didn't have to wait for ANYTHING. Not at the bar, not in the restaraunts and not at the pool or beach. We were looking for a place to kick back and relax and we found it at Secrets Capri. The service was outstanding as was the food. We felt like we were in the lap of luxury and hated to leave. We would hightly recommend this hotel to anyone going to PDC.

Secrets Capri vs Riu Palace ??
Hello All
I'm a new member and this is my first post. What a great board this is!! I just read Vicki's report on Secrets and looked at her pictures. Great pics. We usually stay at the Riu Palace, which we love. However, would like to try a new place and have pretty much opted for the Royay Hideaway for our next trip. Our travel agent suggested Secrets Capri; saying she was sure we'd love it. We feel spoiled by the Palace and would like to stay at the same type of hotel or better. Any info out there re comparisons? Thanks. Loism |

To Lois Munday...I have been to both Royal Hideaway (4 times) and also to Secrets Capri. While both are beautiful, I prefer RH and in May I will return for my 5th time there.
