I just need a basic gym with good weights and benches and a few cardio pieces.
Wow, that IS a lot of money. I have been to the new gym and it looks good, plenty of new equipment and a clean, fresh atmosphere but a High End gym?

My wife was pleasantly surprised to see Curves next to Chadrui (sp?), the big discount store. If you ask your local Curves, they'll give you some travel vouchers so you can work out there. The woman running the place even told my wife she could come work out without the vouchers. Just tell the taxi driver to take you to Chadrui and you'll get there. They all know where that's at.

300 USD initiation fee....THATS RIDICULOUS. Do they have one day guest passes or weekly guest passes. Someone mentioned the gym on the north end of town, I wonder if that has aerobics and weights. What a shame

That is Pricey

My gym[Golds] in our little town just did a million $ ++ expansion, but still 42$ a month, has good pool, plenty of machines, only problem is lack of people who know how to clean! Machines, bathrooms, rugs, etc. Unbeleivable to someone who has done this for a living. I think we'll try muscle beach when there. If we even get the notion!

I tried to find some specific info on prices about weekly and daily passes in Area, but I couldnīt find it on their site www.areabodyzone.com They will probably add this soon. There is some contact information on the site, so you might want to give them a call or send an e-mail.

On the other hand, Nancy and Julia from Bodyworks start this week with their Aerobics classes in the new Martial Arts Gym on the Fifth Av.
Itīs located on the top floor and has a great seaview, and view of the Fifth Avenue, so a pretty good place to work out. Entrance to the gym is next to restaurant Wine & Sheīs, left of Spa Itzá.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I emailed these guys requesting some additional info. I haven't been able to get them to respond.

Do you know if the Martial Arts Gym has weights? I am trying to put names with faces. Is either Nancy or Julia; The blonde American (she owned Bodyworks) or a slender Mexican woman with long hair mostly pulled back in a braid.
Also anyone know a price for this place, Maybe it could be part of the Playa Deal Card Hmmmm!

I don`t think there are weights, it`s not a regular work out gym, but very much into Martial Arts, there are 5 different Martial Arts, so donīt expect a gym with machines and loud music.

The Blonde American woman who owned Bodyworks is Cindy, Nancy and Julia are Mexican girls, and yes it`s possible that Nancy is the one you described. Nancy had worked for many years in Bodyworks, giving Aerobics classes and at the recepcion.

The prices for the Martial Arts are around 350 pesos per month. Aerobics is like 300 pesos.

By the way what exactly is the Playa Deal Card? Is this a discount card for tourists and how does it work, where is it valid for?
