To miss the spring break & Easter celebration crowds we schedule our trips the last week or April or first week of May has worked for us so far. We'll be in Mazatlan then--unless PDC & it's friendly peeps put a spell on us

We've been in Playa in early/mid March the last two years. Didn't find it oppressively crowded either time. Admittedly, you couldn't always walk right into a particular restaurant if you're going at prime time without reservations, but the waits weren't excessive. Both years, we encountered spring breakers, but didn't find they caused any particular problems. They tend more to be in Cancun or places like Senor Frogs, or Carlos & Charlies or real jumpin' spots, so we didn't find them troubling. Also, the young college ladies trolling 5th in them little tiny outfits were an interesting diversion. I did my best to keep my eyes to the front - a good idea, given the roadwork excavations - but Mrs. B claims she could hear my eyeballs click.

Yes, Sunseekers, you are right... here in Germany a lot of trips to asian countries can be cancelled until Mid-March, there are companies which don't even fly to Phuket until the end of April. Although eg Thailand and the Maledives have still big parts of the country (even coastline) which hasn't been affected at all, I think a lot of people (like me) will go in the opposite direction. But don't forget that for europeans it is much more expensive to come to Playa so from what I read the alternatives are Cuba and the Dominican Republic or Egypt.

I’ve always found Easter to be a busy time of year in Playa. The number of people in town has never been a problem for me. In fact, I like to be in Playa when it is the busy season.

I am a college prof and we were there spring break last year and will be back this year. It is 2nd week in March for most...and 3rd week for many others.

We found Playa almost empty of college kids! They are all in Cancun doing the wet tee shirt thing and the massively crowded bar scene! Looking forward to being in Mexico for spring break again,.....less students!
