Is Playa crowded in March?

Hi all!

Just wondering, is Playa really busy and crowded in March? We've been there in May and the end of November, and it was really nice, there were people, but not too many, the beaches were not crowded at all. I am primarily looking to know if the non-AI beaches/ hotels are crowded, but if you know about AI's that would be helpful, too.

Not too crowded at all, but enough to get in some people watching. Similar to what you probably encountered in Nov.

In comparison to Cancun Playa is rarely really crowded.

I always go in March because I think it's just the right amount of people, but not a crowd at all.
Have a fun trip. If you're there around March 20 we should get together.

Easter is in March this year, so on Good Friday the place will be PACKED and for that whole weekend. I was there Good Friday of 2004. However, we were there for the whole week before hand, and it was not too crowded until Friday. For example, we went to La Terraya (sp?) Friday night for dinner and they were out of Margaritas from the busy day!

Just remember March is springbreak time, so there will probably be more younger people then usual. Have fun!

Sarah, I was wondering when exactly that might be? I don't like crowds so I would be happy if spring break would be when I am NOT in Playa...

Hey Michael! He just asked about March in general, right? And, I think spring break depends on the school, but they usually fall in March (sometimes even early April).

Spring break is spread all over in terms of time. I don't know what the stats would be for this year, but this post from the forum goddess last year shows just how spread out it really is.

Bottom line from my perspective, however, is that spring breakers don't come here, but March is certainly high season and quite popular and thus there will be a goodly number of people here.

Thanks Steve. As non-american who has been a lot in the States and heard/read a lot of spring break I still wasn't familiar with the dates. Looks like summer holidays in Germany which are on different dates in the different regions.

I know that I have spring break the end of March, the 27th - whenever a week later is in April. I go to a state univeristy in Ohio, and they are all pretty much the same, so if you are going in early March, I would think you will be free of spring breakers. I was just asking in general... I honestly hadn't thougt about spring break, and it is a VERY good point to make (I, of course, am not one of those typical spring break types

)

I remember when I was there over Thanksgiving, and into the first week or so of December, it must have been when College had just gotten out cause that last Friday I was there I saw some young people being not very respectful, and it was sad that they have to ruin the reputation for all of us

Spring Break for us is always the week before Easter...no matter when it falls. Last year was late, this year early! It's so nice to get away from the cold!
