Playa in April/ clothing optional resort??

My wife and I will be returning to Playa this Spring for a couple of weeks and would like to try a clothing optional resort. Please give us any information you might have.

Thanks, pv

I have read about a couple, but they sure want a lot of money in order to let you run around optionally clothed.

Tom Robbins gave a good description of the difference between naked and nekkid. Naked, he wrote (I think in Jitterbug Perfume), was when you had no clothes on. Nekkid was when you had no clothes on and were looking for trouble.

Are you looking for a naked or a nekkid resort? I think there are both.

Here is what SHAMMY had to say previously.

As I was reading your post, what came to my mind WAS Hidden Beach. I also wondered if that might be too extreme but was going to suggest it nontheless.
Then I get to the end of your post and see where you are already aware of the specifics of Hidden Beach!
Soooo....where to go from there?
This is what I can tell you....
There is topless on the beach at every resort in PDC. Some beaches have areas that are popular with those looking for a "clothing optional experience" and some you just sit amongst everyone else. There is topless at the pools in PDC too, some way more than others. For instance, we were just at the Barcelo and there was plenty of topless on the beach but very few if any at the pool. Oh, except for one day that this nice lady from England and her hubby decided to put on an X-rated show while she floated topless on her raft in the pool, right next to the swim up bar. I had to wash my kid's eyes out with soap.

Other than Hidden Beach and Desire, where being topless comfortably is one of the main reason TO go, there is no one resort where you won't get mixed results...some topless and some not.
Since you have already been to PDC so many times, you know how you felt about each hotel you stayed at. I would chose the one you felt most comfy at..even pick a new one..and know that when you get there, you're going to put your cares aside and "let it all hang out".
Otherwise, really give some thought to Hidden Beach or Desire. Go to TripAdvisor.com and see what those who have stayed there have to say. Might be what you're looking for after all.
And wherever you go...HAVE FUN!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having stayed at Hidden Beach Resort (HBR), I would recommend it. The resort is a great place to let your hair down. Great food, drinks, and service. The only thing that was not that great was the beach - rocky. If you and your partner have no problems "taking it off" this is the place for you. The staff and fellow guests are the friendliest peope you will meet.
take care,
mike
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We were looking for the same type of place and have booked the aventura spa. let me know if this just was not good for topless ??
nightly activities?

You might want to check out the caribbean reef club its clothing optional

but not 5 star

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right....that seems to be the spot that isn't to the extent of Desire, which could lend itself more to the Swinger aspect, but Hidden Beach may be a go...?
There are also more clothing-free spots/beaches around PDC, Tulum, etc...You can find them on the web with some research...
The Caribbean Reef Club is north in Puerto Morelos...You can get there from PDC very easily by cab and it used to be a $75 charge per person for the day...I'd e-mail for price updates on day passes
Hidden Beach is RIGHT next door to the El Dorado Seaside Suites...same entrance...
As a guest of the El Dorado Royale or the El Dorado Seaside Suites, you can get a day pass and check out the facility...IF you like what you experience, you can get yourself another day pass, although it is significantly more money than the first day. You could simply split the vacation into 2 stays - the EDSS and HBR right next door...
Thanks/
Thanks for the information. It seems crazy to pay extra for clothing optional. I guess we'll just have to settle for skinny dipping in the wonderful sea.
The best way is to get on the beach look both ways, head in the direction that looks the least occupied. You will eventually find an area with no peeps around, strip down and enjoy. Areas north of PDC, south of PDC,Tulum area etc will all fit the bill for C.O. beaches, you just have to find the right spot, and they do exist, without having to pay extra.
My wife and I visited the Caribbean Reef Club last summer a few times. We were staying in PDC and took a cab to Puerto Morelos. The beach, pool, food and drinks were all very good. Unfortunately it is closed and is being turned into Condos. We are hoping that the owners (Skip and Joanne) will continue the practice of offering day passes.
The great thing about the whole Mayan Coast is that there are so many beautiful beaches you can always find what you're looking for.
