more new hotel stuff

Thought it made more sense to start a new thread then to keep adding to the previous one by the same name.

Just happened to be nosing around on TripAdvisor and saw something rather interesting: Deseo's new hotel, Básico, is already (according to TripAdvisor's popularity ranking, which I guess is about as well understood by everyone as the QB ranking system in the NFL) virtually as popular as the Deseo itself, despite not having opened yet! Now that is a good trick! This is apparently a result of articles about it being published in advance. Don't know what any of this says about either place or that ranking system, but check it out for yourself, if you like:

But I didn't manage to get us ranked there before we even opened! My marketing skills are evidently in need of some help in that particular regard...

Steve,
Your still #1 with us also. I'd recommend your place any day.
Oh yeah, that's right, I did recommend you to some people and they DID stay with you.

Well you guys are really very nice, but I kind of wanted to know if anyone had more input on the new Básico hotel or even on Deseo or that ranking, maybe. Didn't mean to derail the conversation so much with that afterthought p.s. of mine...

Hey it's true

Playa Maya is ranked very high given the number of listings and it"s size,I'd say it"s a power-house. No sense not being proud of a well run & kept hostelry. I'm sure you work hard to keep up your high standards.

Funny update: click on the links for each of them in my thread-starter above and you'll see that as of right now, at least, Básico is on the verge of passing Deseo on TripAdvisor's popularity ranking, despite still not being open! Dunno exactly how many ways that can be interpreted (although that that ranking is a bit off in some fundamental way is certainly one of them).

Steve,
We've been to 2 islands in Hawaii, 3 different Carribean islands, and twice to Mexico, and of all the places we've stayed, Playa Maya is definitely #1. See you in May!!
