We read about Hotel Deseo in a magazine-has anyone checked it out? I know it's not on the beach-is it possible to use the beach if you aren't staying at a beachfront hotel?

We are staying there in August. We have been in touch w/Juan at the Deseo via email on a regular basis!! Beach is 3 minute walk--hotel is perhaps the hippest spot in PDC--very new, beautiful, modern--designed by Philippe Stark. People have said it is like walking into a movie set. I recommend you email the hotel (specifically Juan)--he is extremely helpful!

I did not stay at the deseo, but I went to the bar and saw a lot of the hotel. It is like walking on to a movie set. I have never seen anything like it! It has an extreme yuppy and modern feeling to it. I don't know if I would stay there, its a few blocks fron the beach, which are all local and usable. There pool is very small and in the middle of the bar area on the roof. I like Mexico for the Mexican atmosphere, the friendly people. There is no Mexican atmosphere. At the bar the workers acted very snotty. I would definately recommend going to the bar some night and checking it out, cause it is crazy and worth the experience! But staying there, I don't know, it does not seem like a super friendly place. You will pay through the roof for a drink, even a cheap Corona.

i felt like i was at the delano in south beach. the music was good but not mixed well, kinda train-wrecky. I loved fly downstairs though--it seems as if pdc is becoming quite hip. this is a good thing as long as it does not lose it's organic charm and 70's hippie feel.

Dineh, according to the research I conducted, Phillipe Starck didn't design the hotel -- the people behind the Habita Hotel in Mexico City are the geniuses behind this one. But then again, it really looks like one of his properties. I'm staying there as well and I can't wait!
