Hotel rating
We stayed at Maria Bonita over Christmas and found it very decent, but the beds a bit hard. Very nice folks, close to beach but not so close as to be too noisy. Had reservations beachfront at Mimi del Mar, arrived on Dec. 23 and were told "we're full. Tough luck." Had booking number in hand, confirmed, and had paid up front 3 weeks prior. Got steered too Maria Bonita---but have yet to get refunded. Booked through Hotels.com and they seem to be okay and mystified as to why we were turned away. I think Mimi del Mar hosed us, just blew us off. I'd be careful of staying there. Otherwise Playa was fine and most all people very accomodating. Chester

For jeffandbecky. No I have not posted under "Reviews". That was my first post and had some difficulty navigating site. I wanted it under "Hotels", but for whatever reason couldn't get there. Really just want to possibly help some folks out, since I read reviews before we went, and did note some uneven, slightly rude service had been encountered at Mimi del Mar. I attributed it to: everybody has a bad day. After my encounter there I would now not book a room there for all the steers in Texas. Chester.

Thanks for the info Chester as some of us are interested in all type of lodging available in the area - and, not computer saavy to find/post it on the board. The experience will help with our hotel selections. Seems if you're not talking about boobs, booz, or expressed a semi-negative experience, you're in the minority.
