Iberostar Tucan...1st floor?

For those of you who have been to Tucan...would a first floor junior suite (ocean front) give us direct access to our room? I thought with 2 kids it would be nice to be able to put stuff over the patio...instead of carrying everything. Thanks

Whatsa mattah, lady???? You don't wanta toss the beach toyz off the 3rd floor balcony??? What kinda American ahh yous????

Honestly, I don't recall how the oceanview buildings looked from the outside. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps there are some bushes/plantings just outside the patio area, but probably not so insurmountable that you couldn't pass stuff over the railing. Heck.... depending on the age of your kids, THAT might end up being their fast exit to the beach each day!!

EDIT: Click here for a site that shows an aerial view of the resort. Looks like the oceanview rooms do indeed have front lawn areas, so I guess it would depend on the obstructions there. In all honesty, I'd rather have a 2nd or 3rd floor room for security's sake. But then again, the only theft I've heard of was a pair of swimming trunks that a guy from St. Louis lost. They insist it was probably one of the monkeys that took 'em!! But try as we might, we never did see a monkey running around in blue Speedos!!

Thanks for the quick reply! We have stayed at resorts before where it was SO convenient to not have to haul everything! We just finalized our reservation...so we are pretty excited!

When are you going? We're booked for May 14-21st. And BTW... if you haven't already, check out the rest of that site I gave you link to for the aerial photo. There's lots of photos of the resort in there too!

Thanks! The pictures were great! We aren't going until June! I guess I need to stop obsessing! I think we'll look at building 10 and try to get close to the snack bar/pool...probably 2nd floor. Thanks again. I'll be waiting to hear about your trip!

I just returned from the IB* Tucan. The beach front has only very small plants. I agree.....2nd & 3rd floors will be alot better and safer as far as belongings on your balcony. It's not far to drag to kid's belongings to the beach or pool. You will LOVE the resort. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to make you happy. Make sure you go to the Steak House for one of your reservations. It's the best!!!!! HAVE A GREAT VACA!!!!!

McSteff,

It looks like what you may have written in the calendar and it was put in your signature line instead.

Anyway, it's very easy to remove. Look above and click "User CP" for user control panel. Then on the left, click "edit signature". Then just delete everything that is written there and it should all be gone!

Thanks Shammy! I'm still not sure how that happened but I hope it's gone. Just to let everyone know, you can't go wrong at the IB*Tucan. We met quite a few people there in the lobby bar including a football player from Texas Tec that was married there and will be playing in the Hula Bowl, a great couple from NYC that will be getting married in June during an authentic India wedding (you go Taig & Frog), a "sweet" couple of bikers from New Jersey, and a GREAT group from Wisconcin including a fun gal that loves the word "Concohocken". And of course there is our adopted sons Clemente (now a bar supervisor) and Santos (soon to be a Daddy). WE LOVE THAT PLACE!!!!!

Just returned yesterday...

And experiencing a serious jetlag...

Anyway: we stayed at Tucan at room 1006.
FYI: when looking from the beach it's the room on the far left side on the corner of building 10. We overlooked the wedding site and thus witnessed about 7 weddings or so. And yes, though there are some bushes growing, you can toss your stuff over the side of the balcony.

We had a wonderfull time and are already planning to return. Sorry we didn't meet McSteff. But with all of the people it is kinda hard to tell who's who...
Perhaps we all should get PLAYA.INFO t-shirts when we go there.

Report and pics will follow.

Hello there TeeZet

Sorry we didn't get to meet. I agree, we need T-shirts or some kind of big sign. Next visit I will come up with something to let people know we're on the "Playa Board". Hope you come back again.

A guy from St. Louis who lost a pair of blue Speedos? Oh dear, sounds like one of the groomsmen from the wedding I attended there last July. I doubt a monkey took them, knowing those guys, they probably gave the speedos away to some girl as part of a pick-up line while they were drunk and forgot. another possible explanation for you all.....
