Talking Texans & Californians

Okay, okay, okay...haven't picked on any particular group for while now, so I guess it's about time we drew a bead on somebody. Lemme' see now...the largest demographic on the board is Texans, so that gives us one of the protagonists. Now, on the other side...how about...okay...Californians. Yeah, that's it....Texans and Californians.

Why Texans Are Different Than Californians

1. The hardest drugs they have done are Red Dog and Skoal.

2. If they profess "Love not war!", they have first hand experience in both.

3. Their love of the environment is done by action not words.

4. Their home brews have the names "Rainbow", "Ocean", and "Starfall" instead of their children.

5. They know that more kids means more change in the world.

6. A pack of dogs on the property works just fine instead of a high tech, rechargeable, electronic home systems running off solar power.

7. Their brownies don't get you arrested.

8. They know health care starts at home and is earned out of worth.

9. You can insult a Texan and they might find it amusing.

10. To them, "Sensitivity Training" is a contradiction of terms.

11. Their bartenders and square dance callers have more counselling experience than psychologists.

12. Texans are honest about their feelings.

13. A party usually leads to drinking and singing instead of sinking and drilling.

14. "Peace Protest" is a contradiction of terms to them.

15. They play "name the gun they carry" while looking at cops instead of "name the drug they are looking for."

16. Construction experience is beyond building a two man outhouse.

17. A 35 year-old pickup truck on its third engine, second transmission and fifth layering of sheet metal for body work is the best example of recycling there is.

You are indeed a "Northern Boy", by Excited States standards. You're a Southerner to us Winnipeggers though. Argyle, Eh? Passed through your town lots of times. Used to be very active in Jaycees and made numerous trips to Crookston, and other Minnesota points, and an annual pilgrimmage to Thief River Falls for the Aquacade - our chapter used to build a float promoting our community and ran it in parades all over the place. Had some truly remarkable experiences in TRF, Bimidji, and Grand Rapids....or what I can remember of them anyway. I'm told I had a good time.

Your right bumper! You got me by about what? 110 miles. I'm impressed you recall our small town, most don't.

I only claimed to be from the north, not The Great White North.
