Ann Arbor area Mexican Restaurants
In Ann Arbor, Michigan we have recently been blessed with a plethora of new mexican restaurants opening...
One of the oldest and best in the area is La Fiesta Mexicana...on Cross street near the Eastern Michigan University Campus...they hail from Michoacan and serve some great carne asada and were the first local restuarant to use chihuahua cheese...one of my all time favorites. A newer one, but excellent as well is Senior Lopez on Stadium, They come from the Yucatan, I believe the Merida area and serve some kick ass Conchinita Pibil...the finest I have tasted outside of mexico proper and frankly would hold its own anywhere...along with the usual standards. In Adrian, a little south west of Ann Arbor is a restaurant called La Chopolata...(I think that is how it is spelled...means "grashopper") Adrian is and has been for many years a local migrant laborer community with a significant Mexican population and for a long time it was THE place to go to get authentic Mexican food...still very good with rockin' margaritas... there are a few others but these three are the best, in my subjective opinion. bba2 |

Any hole in the wall in Texas is good. More and more Taquieras are opening with all the immigrants pouring in and it is my goal to try them all. Alot of them give you drinks in a can or bottle...like the water ain't safe to drink or something. Also alot of them don't speak English...really makes me feel like I am in Mexico.

The BEST in Dallas just has to be Luna de Noche (multiple locations, not a chain). The hot sauce is to die for plus get the pollo escondido. Chicken breast smothered with white mexican cheese, sauteed mushrooms & onions !! Comes with a guacomole salad. I lkie this place better than my old stand by Mi Cocinas. If in Highland Park area, you gotta go to Taco Diner. Mia's on Lovers lane for brisquet tacos is killer too.

Yes...Lewis Rd. heading East from 101 turns into Somis Rd./Hwy 34 and ends at the 118. Somis Cafe is directly across the street from the Fire Station. You can't miss it, and it's ALWAYS packed on the weekends! |

I have a very good friend named Javier! He is an awesome cook. His wife makes the BEST tamales ever! When they have a party, you know you have been to a party. That's the best Mexican food I have ever had outside of Mexico.

Here in New York City, I am always trying to find the best Tacos al Pastor. The best I have found (and I am only talking Manhattan, not the outer boroughs), is at Taqueria de Mexico (93 Greenwich Ave. right off 7th Avenue south), although it is getting a bit pricey now. We have recently found a real nice, inexpensive place uptown (which is great as it is much closer for us) called El Paso Taqueria (it is not Tex-Mex) and they have some excellent Tacos al Pastor and a full liquor license.

IMHO, there is a place here in Houston, where alot of the local Hispanic community goes to get their mexican food fix. It's called "La Taqueria Tapatia", and they have the best fajitas in the world. It's on the corner of Richmond and Woodhead, I think. Slap ya momma good!!

well, its not a restaurant (so i know it doesnt really count) but before my Grandma passed away (last october) my very favorite table to enjoy an authentic mexican meal was hers
since then, there is a tiny hole-in-the-wall place that blares latin music and serves up eats that are pretty close - doesnt even have a name, just have to know where to go xoxo |

hands down, Herberts Taco Hut , San Marcos Texas. nothin fancy, no bar, no dinner more than $8, just good food... fast
but for upscale when a huge choice of primo tequilas is critical to the evening....... Matts El Rancho, South Lamar St. Austin Tx |
