I was trying to think of a few really great places here in San Antonio, but there are so many and they are all "hole in the wall" type places that I can't even remember their names, I just know where they are. Of course, with almost two-thirds of the population being hispanic, I'm not sure we really qualify as "outside of Mexico".
![]() Like much of Texas, however, there is definately a divide between "authentic" Mexican food and Tex-Mex. Tex-Mex is extremely popular here, and most restaurants that claim to be "Mexican" are really just Tex-Mex. It's the little hole in the wall places that always have the best food (and fewest English speakers, but who cares, the food is awesome!). |

Guadalajara Market best chili colorado & salsa, Empire St. San Jose, CA.
La Fama Bakery best chili verde, Glendale Ave. Glendale, AZ. Both very spicey, if you cant take the heat stay away from these two for me the hotter the better! Super Taquaria, best soft tacos & tortas, San Jose, Morgan Hill and Hollister CA. |

In DFW area, head over to North Ft Worth and Joe T Garcias. Great food.
