We try to avoid it at all costs. Exception is birthday parties for kids and out of town guests. Now Gordo's - LOVE that place.

Two locations - one at the DTC off of 225 at Yosemite, the other at 6th & Sheridan. It was originally this teeny-tiny hole in the wall right over by Casino Buddha, then moved to 6th & Sheridan, quadrupled their prices (which are still reasonable), then opened the other location over in DTC. Nice places, both of them.

God I hate being told to do my homework! Oh wait. We're not in the NCC thread. I started to tell you about the role of CB's. OK, ok, I'll get on it as soon as I finish my listings, in about 30 minutes. Check your PM before you get too involved with Tecate :p

Me Gusta on the West Side of St.Paul. Very Authentic. Small and cozy. They are Next to Mr. C's Pizza.

I was trying to think of a few really great places here in San Antonio, but there are so many and they are all "hole in the wall" type places that I can't even remember their names, I just know where they are. Of course, with almost two-thirds of the population being hispanic, I'm not sure we really qualify as "outside of Mexico".

Like much of Texas, however, there is definately a divide between "authentic" Mexican food and Tex-Mex. Tex-Mex is extremely popular here, and most restaurants that claim to be "Mexican" are really just Tex-Mex. It's the little hole in the wall places that always have the best food (and fewest English speakers, but who cares, the food is awesome!).

El Gallo Giro which is on Main street in Kuna, Idaho...around 12 miles out of Boise. Great service and wonderful tacos!

Guadalajara Market best chili colorado & salsa, Empire St. San Jose, CA.

La Fama Bakery best chili verde, Glendale Ave. Glendale, AZ.

Both very spicey, if you cant take the heat stay away from these two for me the hotter the better!
Super Taquaria, best soft tacos & tortas, San Jose, Morgan Hill and Hollister CA.
