HELP! Low Mobility - Need Beach and drop off info.
I have multiple sclerosis (MS) and am unable to walk a lot but want to visit PDC. Where's the best place to be dropped off by the taxi to be near the "best" stuff (shopping and food)? I know I want to go to the HOT bakery and get my hubby a GOOD mexican meal (he's mexican and hates the restaurants in MN). We also want to go to the beach. I have a 6 yr. old that is an ok swimmer, but not great. Any more info. you need, just ask. I'll be there 3/2-3/9.

Best place.......
Get the taxi to take you to La Parrilla on the corner of 5th Avenue & 8th Street. They all go there & as soon as you see the ocean, decide if you can walk down that little road to the beach & if not ask,"por favor the playa"...lousy Spanish but they maybe understand.Lots of them do not speak English.
5th Avenue is all the shopping you want & the beach is right there. If Playa Maya is not too busy you will be able to sit there & have lunch at the beach all day.The beach is great there,no big dropoff. The rocks are big enough to see along the shore, those are the black areas.Once you are in,I have never stepped on rocks, only sand. We have a friend with MS & he goes there with us & he loves it. Hope this helps.

I agree with dibiggs - we stayed at the Pelicano on 8th (for the location, not for the hotel, which isn't that great anymore) in January with ground floor rooms and a short walk to the beach for my sister (who has MS also).
Buy some drinks/food at Playa Maya or Pelicano and you'll be set with chairs, etc. Enjoy! |
