I golfed with a couple in January who stayed at Xpu Ha Palace, they thought it was very nice, they also stayed a couple days at Moon Palace. The biggest draw for them was that they were keen golfers and wanted to play everyday without having to pay at the courses. From what they told me it sounded very pricey. I have stayed a few times in the Mayan area and love both the Palladium Colonial and the Bahia Principe Akumal. the Colonial has a nice adult pool that seats about 30-40 people and not kids. Also nice and quiet if you want it. The town of PDC is safe and you can take a taxi or the collectivo relatively easy and enjoy the adventure. It's about a 20-25 min drive into town.
