We will be staying at the Natz ti Ha Condos in 2 weeks it was posted awhile ago that the beach was gone at Shangri La Caribe Resort sand bagged by pool etc... is this true? Also any good restaurants within 2 to 4 blocks of the area I haven't been in Playa for 3 years I hear that the north-end is growing?? I can't tell by the map just how long of a walk it would be into towns 5th ave.
Anyone from Saint Cloud MN. planning on being in Play March 2nd to the 9th let us know..... It's cold here can't wait for some warmth!! Last edited by Cooplady : 02-19-2005 at 08:14 AM. Reason: spelling |

I was just there two weeks ago, yes some of the beach is mimimal at ShangriLa, however just a short strech, plenty of beach a short distance (1/4 of a block). There is a great little italian restaurant by there. From the beach you will see a little wooded boat sunk at the beach, by the web cam, go up the street from there about 1 1/2 blocks you will see it on the corner on your right. I don't remember the name but the food was great, and reasonable (under $10 us, except the Lobster $18US) Large portions, fantastic pizza. It is the only restaurant down that stretch so you can't miss it.

La Cuevo del Chango is a block away just before you make the left turn for Natzi Ha. They are now open for dinner and it is a winner(besides the infamous breakfasts)!!!!
The Italian place I believe aquavitagal is referring to is right across the street from the main entrance to Natziha. She is right, they have great pizza and excellent pasta. Don't waste another second on beach worry. Shangri-la has plenty of beach or walk to your left after you hit the sand and you will find a plethora of perfection. You picked a fantastic area to hang in. Enjoy. Oh also, right on the corner where you make the left to Natzi HA is Playa's hidden gem La Jardin something(I forget the whole name). It is a eco garden with fantastic yoga, rare plants and a store that sells wooden vessels and sculptures made from local trees that were downed for construction. They also have the best gourd lamps I've seen. Shangri-la Caribe buys them there(they also own the whole property). When we were there in January they were building a restaurant palapas, so you may be in luck when you go. I'm sure it ill be delicious. I would love more people on the forum to know about them and support it so we keep it from being developed!!!! |
