I'm certain I managed to find a couple of last minute Coronas before boarding last year and the year before!

I have vague recollections of a large bar in the centre of the departures lounge.

Did you mean you have to wait there for a few hours when arriving to Cancun? I know for sure you can get beer that way, cause we had one or two while waiting for the Riviera Bus last year

The Hasta la Vista restaurant is just inside the doors to the departure check-in area and has beer and food. You can just walk in, no security check at that point. I spent several hours chillin' there when waiting to connect to Cuba.

I recall seeing them sell beer and soda outside the terminal on the sidewalk where you catch your bus.

Beware of the beer sales imediately outside of the airport, as we got hooked in at 3.00 USD a beer, and it was hot . Would have been OK if it was at least cool.

The curbside beer sales come and go. Every so often some idiot causes a problem and the vendor gets shut down. The Hasta la Vista restaurant is where I hang out when I have to wait at the airport. The food, though simple, is more edible than the food served at many other airport cafés. And the bar actually does serves Leon, so you can even get a real Yucatecan beer while you are there.

Great bar by the Duty Free. You can drink and smoke while waiting to come back to winter.

Not sure what gate we were at but there was Corona bar right near by. May be the same one Tommy is referring too. I don't do beer but I remember you could smoke there.
