Calling on gurus for hotel advice!

Good morning..I was hoping that someone could offer some advice on some hotel options. After much searching it looks like Don Emilione and Hotel Colibri both have availability March 5 - 12. I'd really prefer to stay on the beach..I've read good things about Don Emilione (which I know exactly where it is) but not alot about Colibri as of late.

Looked at Playa Maya, Maya Bric, Posada Freud, Alhambra, El Faro etc etc..

I just need very basic accomodations to put my head down. Anyone have any other suggestions I could check into?

Thanks so much,

Dodge

Don't know what your budget is, but if you're looking to go the non-AI route and be on the beach, I think most would say Playa Maya.

Unfortunatley they are sold out and a little over budget. $60-$80 US is what I have been budgeting for. I stayed there last year and had a great time at a great place.

Thanks for the tip Traci although I have exhausted that resource. Most all are full for the March 5 -12 dates. We may bump into each other granted I find a hotel..but I will!

In a 1-Block radius of Posada Freud there are a number of budget hotels:
Maya Bric
Siesta Fiesta
Treetops
Pension San Juan
La Rana Consada
El Elephante
Hacienda Maria Bonita
Blue Azul
Kinbe
Hotel Plaza
Hotel d Margo
Cohiba
Phantom Paradise
Eclipse
Hotel da Gabi
...and more!!

A friend of mine stayed at El Sol del Caribe on 5th last year for about $50US per night, I think.

She definitely described it as 'basic', but had no big complaints.

... All the credit for list came from JimmyMN and his vast first-hand knowledge.

Thanks for the addition...!!

Finding a place for the week can most likely be done - but changing rooms at the same facility - or changing facilities might have to be done...

Last week Lab Nah had openings, and I think Posada Mariposa(where we are)had openings. Don Emilione was full. Oh, and I thinks Treetops had openings, too. Hope this helps! :p

the colibri

It's hard to beat the Colibri Great location,Great staff very clean, and extremely friendly. Plus I heard there bar and restaurant are open again. Usually good room prices. There will be 7 of us staying there in April, and it will be our 4th straight year. With never a problem and always a great time. I's my number one choice!!!!!

hotel

Try Hotel Paradise. Stayed there easter week of 2004 when I booked last minute and couldn't find anything. I really liked the hotel, basic and clean, nothing fancy, well located and a nice pool area. We paid $60 a night. Not ON the beach, but just a few blocks away. www.hotel-paradise.com

Perry just stayed at Don Emilione on his last mapping trip, and he said his room was very nice., and it's not that far from the beach.
