Need Recommendation for Resort

We are a group of around 25 which usually cruise around the holiday time and because of cruise schedules this Christmas/New Years we are looking to do an all inclusive.

Here is where we need some help, I personally have been to Royal Hideaway (divine) but adults only, and also Iberostar Lindo (wonderful), too far from town.

We want an upscale resort probably close to town so that the older kids 18 - 25 can go out at night. We would want a great beach, and good food would also be high on our list. We don't have any young kids with us, they start at 15 and go up, so kid programs are not important, but water sports and things like that would be.

Suggestions would be appreciated, as we really need to take care of this soon.

If you want AI, consider the Riu Palace (Riu's more elegant option), about a 20-25 minute walk to town, or short taxi ride...very good food, elegant when you want..Riu Tequila disco across the street.....or many wonderful entertainment options in town!

The closest to town (actually in town) is Gran Porto Real. Stayed there in August and was very pleased with everything. Food was good especially in the a la carte resteraunts.
It is just about a 2 block walk to 5th and all the shops and activity. The service was outstanding.

I also vote for the Riu Palace. If you want something a little less upscale, more family friendly, then look into the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal, which is in Playacar as well.

Recommendation

Thanks so much everyone, I have started to check on Rui Palace and see that there seems to be no availability there or at many other hotels in the area from 12/26/05 for over New Years. Do you think they have not opened their reservations yet or can they really be all booked up? What do you think?

Mandy,

I don't know where you're looking but Holiday '05 prices are not out yet from any of the vacation companies. I assume that it's probably the same regardless of where you look though. I've had quite a few inquiries for rates for Xmas week recently and each time I've checked, the rates are not in. And when I called for info, they said they really don't know when they will have those prices, they have not signed any contracts past mid December. I'm betting that it will be done shortly after Easter but for now, you're just going to have to hang in there for a little while longer.
