Playa in 33 days! Any info on Riu Lupita? How is the beach club, exchange privleges yada yada. I saw a great band last year at captain tutix called Collectivo. Any recommendations for good live music?

Lost in Maine...

We visited RL in November when we stayed at Riu Playacar and really enjoyed it...

However, Riu wasn't marketing it in the US...

I read on a site (here?) that CheapCaribbean.com was booking in the US (was it you?)... Where did you make your reservations for Riu Lupita?... Thanks

I booked it through expedia Liz. 9 days $1,297.00 total. Bringing another $1,200.00 for tips and those little cotton bracelets!

Thanks for the info... We thought RL was a charming little resort, very compact and very laid-back... The food at the Mexican ala carte was marvelous...

I'd be a little concerned about the beach club tho' based on info I've gleaned from various boards... Riu is building a new Palace resort on the property where the beach club is located... I understand construction has already begun...

Also, if possible, don't take a room in the buildings located across from the lobby... There is a sewer treatment plant fairly close to the resort... If the wind is blowing in that direction, it gets a little ripe...

I don't mean to sound negative... We just might be staying there in November...
