New IBerostar hotel in PDC

I emailed the Main IB office, and this is the info I got.

(quote) As per your e- mail of last Sunday, we would like to inform you that we will be building a boutique hotel of approx. 300 rooms next to the Iberostar Paraíso Maya. The hotel does not have an official name yet and is planned to be built in the year 2007.

Each room will be different and the hotel will exists of small buildings, each with its own pool area. The hotel will be very exclusive and guests of the Iberostar Paraíso Lindo & Iberostar Paraíso Maya will not be able to use its facilities.

Unfortunately, at this moment, we do not have any further information on this property. (end quote)

This sounds like its going to be WAY out of my price range, but........one never knows..... karen in NYC

Interesting, but knowing how much the Maya is costing me March 12-21, I can only BEGIN to imagine what the new hotel will cost. I mean, Limits are Limits, and I think they will be WAY OVER "the limit".

Iberostar - always sells out?

What is the story with the Iberostars?
Do Canadian tour operators have small allottments? We were lucky to get the last 20 spots for our wedding at the Tucan, and I've never seen any go on sale at selloffvacations.com or the other internet travel sites. Does it always sell out at full price? We booked thru an agent, went in January for ~$1900 CAD per person for the week and that was supposedly a group rate.

When it comes to all-inclusiive, great food, incredible pools and grounds, outstanding structures and rooms - Iberostar Rules!! Be thankful you got 20 spots. Most of there resorts are booked months in advance, even the 'older' Tucan/Quetzal. Have fun!!

Yes Iberostars and RIU's seem to sellout quickly especially during the popular Christmas-Spring break/Easter weeks. Looking through Selloffvacations or Sunholidays today you will find the next available booking is in May for most of these resorts (Except Maya but thats over $2000 cad) the Tucan won't be available til July. I wanted one of the Iberostars or RIUs for this easter but they was gone in November. I ended up booking the Barcelo at the beginning of january this year. I guess the only good discount you will get now is the early booking discount. The days of getting a nice resort, at a selloff price, a month before your ready to go, are gone for now it seems.
