A Prayer If you please...
Today my friend David who does the same thing I do as far as work but in a different county (Smith/Tyler TX) was caught in the crossfire of a man gone nuts with a AK-47 at the courthouse. David said an officer was shot and a man trying to protect his young daughter and wife. David said that he thought that is who the shooters target was the man protecting his family. Anyway was hoping you might say a little prayer for those who lost and those who have to deal with that crap in their heads now.

So senseless. My prayers are with those folks hurt and traumatized. Here's the story:
TYLER, Texas Feb 24, 2005 — A man with a high-powered rifle opened fire in the town square Thursday and shot at least three people, including a deputy, a U.S. Marshal said. It was not immediately clear if anyone was killed. "He had a rifle, and he was shooting at the back of the courthouse and he shot some glass out, shot a deputy sheriff there and two other civilians," said Deputy U.S. Marshal John Walker. Walker said he believed the gunman was upset about a court case. He said an off-duty police officer shot the man, who was injured but got in a pickup truck and drove away. Walker said he believed the suspect later died, but he couldn't say for certain. Witnesses said the man shot several rounds. "I saw people lying everywhere that had been shot," Nathan Hoffman, an attorney who works across the street from the courthouse, told the Tyler Morning-Telegraph. Hoffman said he locked the front door of his office and crawled on the floor, urging co-workers to get down. "We ran to the window and saw him shooting over and over and over again," said Julie Carnahan, a 57-year-old court clerk who was returning from lunch at the time of the shooting. "It was the most horrible things I ever saw." A spokeswoman at the East Texas Medical Center said wounded people have been admitted but did not have more details. |

Michael:
We will keep your friend and the others in our thoughts and prayers. These tragic events sadly happen in the middle of nowhere too. The six hunters that were murdered last November happened about 40 miles from us. Please encorage your friend to seek out counseling if he has difficuties. In my career I have been through post-critical incidnet debreifings & counseling several times, it does help. And there should be no stigma attached for going, it's not a matter of being "weak" or anything, it's a matter of being in control. Give your friend my best. -Craig |

My family and I will be keeping you, your friend and the other families involved deep in our prayers. I will also do a prayer request at church this week.
My husband is a law enforcement officer and this is something that I can relate to - everyone's fear becomes a reality. |
