i know what you mean kevkaos- last year we went to punta cana and stayed at the riu palace macao. after doing tons of research we knew we couldnt go wrong with the palace there and we were right. we really wanted to try the ib tucan this year but the volume of kiddies scared us away. we are in our mid 40's with a daughter thats 22. when just the two of us travel we lean toward the "couples" oriented resorts.

Pretty tough to beat the Palace Gafaz, we were there Dec of '03 and '04, 1 week then 2 weeks. Upon our return several of the staff, as soon as they saw us, came over and welcomed us back. Will be looking again this summer for Dec trip and hopefully the beach erosion problem will be reversing or we might have to book a Riu elsewhere although we certainly won't want to.

We will be there the end of July. The couple we are going with stayed there 2 years ago. They say the place is beautiful, great service and terrific food.
The only worry is, we love relaxing on the beach, please let us know when you get back how much of a beach is left. I have read so many reports of how the beach is disappearing. Was at the Sheraton Cancun more than 15 years ago and there was about a 10 foot drop to the water. Could lay on the top of the sand, but in a weeks time never touched the water. I hope this doesn't happen here. |

Thanks GAFAZ44,
That's what we have been told. Really beautiful, and first class all the way. If you are going back for a second trip, it must be really special. I can't wait to get away from this cold and snow. July seems soooo far away. Have you been there in May before? Is it spring time there, with beautiful floweres in bloom? |

I'm getting so excited for you. I'm suppose to be losing weight. Ha Ha! If I don't I will need a totally new wardrobe, but I can't afford that.
It's great fun, and adds to the excitement to get a few new pieces of clothing. The tanning feels great this time of year. The days are getting longer. Really makes you feel like it is time for some summer weather and relaxing on a beach with your favorite beverage in hand. |
