Thanks so much everyone! You guys are so great.
Moondance, yes we'll be at Children's. Minnjim - prayers for you also! Jorden actually has Tetralogy of Fallot, so he was born with an overgrown muscular area just below his pulmonary valve as well as a very large hole between the ventricles, a misplaced aorta and a severely constricted pulmonary vein. Basically it was very hard for his heart to get any blood to his lungs for oxygen, so it pumped much of it instead throught the hole and back out to the body without oxygen, thus his bluish appearance and lack of energy or stamina. They fixed it all when he was four months old, but the muscular area has grown back and attached itself to the leaflets of his pulmonary valve, making it not work and so they need to open his heart again, cut out the muscle and replace the valve. Basically right now he's again not getting enough oxygen in his blood, and he has a high pressure gradient building in his heart causing his ventricle to grow and his heart to work much too hard. It's so much easier to talk about it techinically, than to think about it personally!

I agree with you Ginger.
When I talk about the disorder that my kids have (2 out of the 3) from a medical standpoint, I can talk away and find it very interesting. However, when you talk about it on a personal level, it becomes very hard. People ask me why I smile so much and laugh, because I know that deep down, that if I didn;t I would be crying. Stay positive, I know everything will work out great. |

Good thoughts being sent from here. I now how stressful surgery for the parents can be. Continue to stay positive and every thing will go well.
[SOAPBOX] Let me just remind everyone that when someone has a scheduled surgery, a family member that is a blood match is asked to donate blood. It is important for all of us to try and donate blood when ever we can for those people that do not have family members to support them and for those emergencies where blood is needed. [/SOAPBOX] |
